Every man you know is either dead or dying. But not Enoch. He’s the only man in history — other than Elijah — who never tasted death. God didn’t just bless Enoch. He took him. No funeral. Genesis 5:24 says, “Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.” That’s what happens when a man walks so closely with God, the world can’t hold him anymore.
Enoch didn’t chase fame, followers, or fitness. He chased God. And God said, “You’re coming with Me.” That’s the kind of manhood we were made for. Not empty religion, emotional passivity, or cultural compromise. But daily, disciplined, dangerous obedience. If you want a legacy that outlives your muscles and your money, walk like Enoch.
Most Men Don’t Walk with God. They Drift.
Let’s be honest — most men today aren’t walking with God. They’re drifting. One foot in the church, one foot in the world. Spiritually asleep. Physically soft. Emotionally weak. They wake up tired, scroll their phone, eat garbage, and wonder why they feel lost. It’s not because life is too hard. It’s because they’re trying to do it without God.
Enoch didn’t have a Bible, a church, or a podcast. But he had what most men today lack, a walk. A real one. Daily. Intimate. Unshakable. And that one decision changed everything, for him and his family. Meanwhile, we’ve got men walking with lust, addiction, excuses, and shame. We say we believe in God… but our lives say we believe in comfort more.
If you’re waiting for motivation to fix your body, your marriage, or your mind, you’ll be waiting until death, unless you walk with the only One who can raise the dead. You don’t need another Sunday sermon. You need to wake up, repent, and walk like Enoch.
Who Was Enoch?
Genesis 5:21–24 tells us Enoch lived 365 years. At 65, he became the father of Methuselah. And after that, he “walked with God 300 years.” Then it says, “he was no more, because God took him away.” In a chapter full of “he lived, and he died,” Enoch breaks the pattern. He lived… and then he was taken. No death. No burial. Just gone. Why? Because he pleased God.
Hebrews 11:5 confirms it. “By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death… For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.” That’s the Bible’s definition of success, a man who walks by faith and pleases the Lord. Not popularity, possessions, or performance. Just obedience.
Jude 1:14–15 adds one more layer. Enoch wasn’t just a quiet walker. He was a prophet. Jude quotes him warning about judgment, saying the Lord will return with “thousands upon thousands of His holy ones to judge everyone.” Enoch didn’t just walk with God in private. He spoke for God in public.
Now, let’s be clear, the “Book of Enoch” that some talk about today isn’t Scripture. It’s a non-canonical text. It contains myths, exaggerations, and fabrications. While Jude quotes one piece of it, that doesn’t make the whole book inspired. Don’t build your theology on it. Stick to Genesis, Hebrews, and Jude. That’s the real, God-breathed story of Enoch, a man who lived by faith, walked in holiness, spoke the truth, and was taken by God before the flood ever came.
That’s the blueprint. Now let’s break it down.
10 Rules for Masculinity from Enoch
Here are 10 rules every man needs to follow if he wants to walk with God like Enoch and lead a life that actually matters.
1. Walk with God, Daily.
This is the foundation. Not once a week. Not when you feel like it. Daily. Enoch walked with God for 300 years, through fatherhood, stress, and every season of life. You can’t call yourself a man of God if you’re not walking with Him every day.
Anchor your day in 15 minutes of prayer and Scripture before you check your phone. First fruit goes to God.
2. Let God Lead.
Real men follow their King. Enoch didn’t blaze his own trail, he stayed close to the Father. Most men are led by feelings, culture, or comfort. Enoch was led by God. That’s masculinity. That’s maturity.
Before you make a decision, ask: “Does this glorify God or just serve me?” Obedience over outcome.
3. Live Blameless and Righteous.
You don’t need to be perfect. But you do need to be pure. Integrity over image. Character over comfort. Enoch’s walk pleased God because he lived in righteousness — not religion. He obeyed when no one else did.
If you wouldn’t do it in front of your wife, kids, or Christ, don’t do it at all. God sees everything.
4. Be Faithful Through the Long Haul.
300 years. That’s not a sprint. That’s legacy. Most men burn out after 30 days. But Enoch showed us that faith isn’t proven in moments — it’s forged over decades. Faithfulness is how real men measure time.
Don’t break the chain. Track your spiritual habits daily, even a 5-minute win keeps the fire alive.
5. Please God, Not Man.
Hebrews 11:5 says Enoch “was commended as one who pleased God.” That’s the only scoreboard that matters. Not how many followers you have. Not what your boss thinks. If God is pleased, that’s enough.
Delete the approval addiction. Post less. Pray more. Obey when no one claps for you.
6. Speak Truth with Boldness.
Jude tells us Enoch prophesied, publicly. He didn’t hide his faith. He warned the wicked and spoke about judgment and holiness when no one wanted to hear it. Men of God don’t stay silent. They speak truth, even when it costs them.
Practice truth in private first. Journal what you believe. Then say it out loud, with love, but without apology.
7. Stay Spiritually Strong When Others Are Weak.
Enoch lived in corrupt days. But he didn’t fold. He didn’t blend in. He stood out, not with pride, but with purity. Weak men follow crowds. Strong men walk with God when no one else will.
Build spiritual calluses. Fast once a week. Read the Bible daily. Hang around warriors, not weaklings.
8. Be a Man Your Family Can Follow.
Enoch raised Methuselah. He was the grandfather of Noah — a man who would carry on the legacy. Your kids aren’t looking for a best friend. They’re looking for a leader. Be a man your wife and kids can follow with confidence.
Lead with consistency, not charisma. Family devotions at dinner. Pray over your wife. Be steady, not flashy.
9. Practice Spiritual Disciplines.
Enoch’s walk with God wasn’t accidental. It was trained. It was daily. Bible study. Prayer. Fasting. Worship. Obedience. Those are the weights we lift in the Spirit. You want spiritual muscle? You need spiritual reps.
Treat it like training. Set a time and space. Have a plan. Don’t wing your walk.
10. Leave a Legacy That Outlives You.
Enoch was remembered forever, not because he went viral, but because he was faithful. His life changed generations. And he never died. That’s the kind of man God still takes notice of.
Think eternal, not emotional. Ask: “Will this matter in 100 years?” Then live like the answer is yes.
God’s Blueprint for Masculinity Is Still the Same
Enoch didn’t build an empire. He didn’t write a book. He didn’t lead a nation. But he walked with God — and that was enough. In a world full of noise, Enoch lived with clarity. In a culture of compromise, he lived with conviction. He didn’t need status to be significant. His significance came from his obedience.
Most men are chasing manhood in all the wrong places — their job title, their bank account, their bench press. But Enoch reminds us that real manhood starts with a walk. A daily, disciplined, Spirit-filled walk with God. That’s what builds a legacy and makes heaven take notice.
You don’t need to reinvent your life. You just need to walk in a different direction — toward God. Let Enoch show you the path.
